1. Brandon Roy has had some amazing games this season - how long before we call him one of the elite? Sheed: We believe Brandon Roy is an elite player right now. The rest of the country is starting to see that this year. Based on All-Star voting Roy is apparently not getting the respect he deserves and therefore leads me to believe he is not considered elite yet. He certainly means a great deal to this Blazer team, he is the heart and soul, the coach on the floor, the closer, the momentum changer and the MVP.
2. What has to happen for the Blazers to beat the Lakers? Without Brandon Roy tonight, the Blazers will need a serious miracle to beat the Lakers in Los Angeles. That miracle will consist of all five of our starters having one of their better games of the season. Kobe would need to have an off night, and both Oden and Aldridge would have to get the best of Bynum and Gasol. I don't really see it happening tonight.
3. Do you hate Kobe? Why? My feelings towards Kobe change rapidly, similar to a lie detector needle going up and down between tolerance and hate. When Kobe was playing with team USA this summer I actually liked him. He played as a team player because he was finally surrounded by legit talent. But when he is on the Lakers he becomes a different guy, whiny, arrogant, just irritating most of the time. I don't hate him too much right now, but by the time the game gets going tonight, I probably will.
4. How does the "Jail Blazer" legacy still impact the franchise? The players and personnel who were involved in the jailblazer era are virtually gone. The only impact they have on the current organization is positive because it allowed Portland to get Kevin Pritchard who has virtually put together the current team. We have a great coach now and the jailblazer era is a thing of the past.
5. Seriously, who's better: Oden or Bynum?
This season and as we stand currently, Bynum is probably a little better. Both guys are very similar statistically and in age. The thing that confuses me about Bynum is that he's been in the league now for his 4th season and he is still seeming like a project. While Oden is playing in roughly his 25-30th game and he is already capable of having a season as good as Bynum. I think long-term Oden will be better and I would take him over Bynum any day of the week.
Thanks to Sheed, and if you (reader) want to read up on the game from a different perspective (way down past Phi-Jax and down past the other side of the scorers' table), head over to Bust a Bucket and read Sheed's Shakedown!
