As has been the case throughout the playoffs, NBA.com has given bloggers unprecedented access to mainstream media personalities - and the Finals are no different. I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to ask a question of former Sacramento Kings star, and now NBA analyst Chris Webber. Here's what I asked of C-Webb, and his response:
Don: There's been a lot of talk about how much difficulty the Lakers will have with Rondo, but LA's faced a PG every round that supposedly was going to be too much for them to handle, and LA have had some success at limiting Rondo this season. Is the advantage really that pronounced?Chris Webber: In a team game it would seem that the advantage isn't that pronounced. The one thing that's different about Rondo -- or Rondo and Nash -- is that they both can score but their whole team depends on them to get shots for everybody else whereas Deron Williams maybe didn't concentrate on assists, or Westrbook didn't do that as much maybe. I don't think that it's a call to arms because Rondo is that big at mismatches, I just think that where he goes the Celtics go. He's the best player on the Celtics and he knows that he has to have a big game in order for them to win.
That's rebounding, scoring, and pushing the ball to people. He does a bit more than some other guards but he and Nash are really alike. I wouldn't really say it's a mismatch, but I will say that you have to cut off the head to defeat the dragon and he's the head of the Boston dragon.
If you'd like to read the rest of the Q&A session with C-Webb, then head over to NBA.com to check it out - some VERY good insight from an NBA legend!
