I love it when they release the NBA schedule - it feels like the season's just around the corner (even tho' it isn't really...).  If you want a screensaver schedule - click the picture below.

LA's season kicks off with a game at the Staples Center on October 26th game against the Houston Rockets.

Other notable games you should circle on your calendar are (with notes)...
  • Nov 7th - Portland comes to LA.  Big game.  At least for Portland fans.  For some reason, they make these games much bigger than they really are.  Is Greg Oden still playing by this point?
  • Nov 11th - LA in Denver.  Not sure about Denver this season...
  • Nov 15th - Milwaukee plays host to LA.  I expect them to be quite a good team this season.
  • Nov 23rd - Hosting an improved Bulls team...
  • Dec 1st - LA head to Houston's Toyota Center.
  • Dec 10th - Chicago again.  This time, in Chicago.
  • Dec 21st - Milwaukee come to LA, a nice warm-up for Christmas Day.
  • Dec 25th - Christmas Day, and what did Santa Stern give LA?  A match against Miami's Threesome, in LA, with 3 days off beforehand.  Thank you.
  • Dec 28th - In San Antonio - 2 days off post the Miami match.
  • Jan 17th - OKC in LA. Could be a huge game... The current champs 'n' favourites host the team considered "most likely".  Most likely to... ???  I guess we'll find out around this date.  Contenders or pretenders?
  • Jan 19th - LA head to Dallas.
  • Jan 21st - LA in Denver, part deux.
  • Jan 30th - The Big Leprechaun comes to town, with Boston in tow.
  • Feb 1st - Hosting Houston.  By this time, will Yao still be playing?  A worthy question...
  • Feb 3rd - The Spurs come to LA.  We play them February, March, April this season.  How has time treated them?  We'll know by now.
  • Feb 10th - In Boston.
  • Feb 13th - Magic - in Orlando.
  • Feb 18th-20th - All Star Weekend.
  • Feb 22nd - Atlanta come to LA.  Return of J-Peezy (will he have to wait until now to get his ring???).
  • Feb 23rd - The Rose Garden.  Even if most LA fans don't regard Portland as a nemesis, the Rose Garden has been a stumbling block for the Lakers over the year.
  • Feb 27th - in OKC.
  • Mar 6th - SAS in San Antonio. 1 of two things will be happening for the Spurs by now: either they're doing well, and starting to coast a bit to rest up... or they're struggling and having to play their stars big minutes.  Either way, playing them late in the season's a good thing.
  • Mar 8th - Off to Atlanta.
  • Mar 10th - Miami, the return visit.  LA taking their combined talents to South Beach - and by now, the two franchises will have pretty much shown us all what is going to happen this season.  A precursor to the 2011 Finals?  Or will one have succumbed by then?  My money's on the East providing a far bigger challenge than Threesome expected.
  • Mar 12th - Dallas-in-Dallas.  How are those legs holding up?
  • Mar 14th - Capping off a pretty tough week (I mean... SA/ATL/MIA/DAL/ORL??), LA play Orlando at Staples.  At least none of these games were back-to-backs...
  • Mar 20th - Portland come to Hollywood again.  Expect more vitriol from Blazer-bloggers.  Yawn.
  • Mar 31st - Dallas again.
  • Apr 3rd - Denver in LA.  If Denver are going to do their regular imploding act, it will be apparent by now.
  • Apr 8th - The Rose Garden again.  The thing I'm most interested in re. Portland is has the injury bug hit 'em again?  And if it has... how are they holding up (they did pretty well last season considering)?
  • Apr 10th - OKC come to Staples.
  • Apr 12th - At San Antonio.  Who goes where (seedings-wise)?  We'll know by now.
  • Apr 13th - Sacramento in LA.  I dont' regard this as a 'big game' per se, but it's the last game of the season.
A bit of a write-up on the schedule for the LA Lakers is available by Mike Trudell at NBA.com's Lakers site.
