Ok, I get it. Jeff Van Gundy used to coach the Houston Rockets, so there's an attachment there. But they sacked you Jeff. They moved on. You should too.
The commentary by Van Gundy during game 3 of the Rockets/LA Lakers series was one of the most partisan I've ever heard. Ol' Jeff cannot hide his elation at Houston's ability to stay with the Lakers, and all the way through it's oh-so-clear who he's supporting. Vociferously supporting. Now, that's well and good if you're simply a fan - we all are, and we all have our particularly coloured bias. But it's not ok when you're a commentator for a national (global!) broadcaster. JVG should have better control, and present commentary that's appropriate for fans of Basketball, not just the Rockets.ESPN should definitely tell Van Gundy to clean his act up - and if can't then he should be told "no thanks". As a fan of Houston's opposition, it was a galling performance.
JVG/ESPN - you can, and should, do better.
